SCHEDULE - subject to changeThis project covers approximately one mile; it starts at N Grandview Drive and ends at Haryan Way. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained for the duration of the construction.
Utility relocation began in 2014 and will continue into fall 2015 - utilities are moving underground and aerial cables/wires away from the new roadway to avoid cutting lines and affecting power/communication during construction and for easier access for future repairs.
PRESTAGE - summer/fall 2015The contractor will complete tree removal and install temporary pavement and temporary traffic signals; there will be work to install retaining walls and relocate the sanitary sewer lift station. Once this work is done, the project will shut down for the winter months.
STAGE ONE - spring 2016All traffic will move to the north side of the roadway, using the existing westbound lane and new temporary pavement. The contractor will remove part of the existing road and begin all of the work required to install the new eastbound lanes. That work includes pavement removal, storm sewer and underdrain installation, water and sewer relocations, excavation, embankment and installation of the new roadway base stone. The final roadway is eight inches of concrete pavement over one foot of compacted stone with a concrete curb.
STAGE TWO - summer 2016All traffic will move to the south side of the roadway onto the newly constructed eastbound lanes. The contractor will complete the same steps as detailed in Stage One on the north side of the roadway for the westbound lanes.
STAGE THREE - fall 2016With eastbound and westbound traffic moved to their corresponding new outside lanes, the contractor will use the inside lanes to complete the median and any remaining concrete curb installation and landscaping. The contractor will also complete any work at the intersections and install final pavement markings, road signs and traffic signals. Upon completion of Stage Three, all lanes will be open to traffic.
COMPLETION - spring 2017This work includes any tasks (such as some landscaping) that could not be completed in the colder weather of late fall along with any repairs to the roadway resulting from winter damage.
